FINWorks – Who we are

A challenge to all FINWorks employees to write some comments …

I have again given this a lot of thought over the last couple of weeks. What is our promise and do we live it?
It is a good idea to revisit your strategy and make sure you are still on track or to adjust it if needed. How much does one involve every employee in this process? Let me know what you think.

    Hi Walther

    I read through the manifesto(?). I must say there are a lot of things that I think we ARE doing that is written in the manifesto. I answered the bullet points on Dream and Values below. My comments follow the dashes.

    We want to:
    • work with exciting technology; – I do believe that we are open to the possibilities that new technology creates. I’m thinking of the whole solid state disk episode. Where does GLASS fit into this? Should it be looked at again?
    • explore new technologies; – Same as above
    • work with creative/clever/nice people; – How creative and clever? Are we willing to be uncomfortable and go out on a limb? I think we need to grow in this area. I don’t think the social environment in FinWORKS are really conducive for people to put themselves out there with their wacky ideas that might prove gold.
    • feel that we are doing something significant; – Yes, I know that this is true but once again maybe more true for the guys in the FinWORKS office than for the one’s at RMBIS
    • be involved in the community; – Same as above
    • do something that is amazing; – Yes, I know we want to do that. I can sense it and I believe that we are made for that. To me this is probably the most authentic expression of the FinWORKS dream.
    • solve problems not only motivated by known client needs BUT that will have a great impact on the client; – We do this
    • implement solutions that, when the client uses it, he cannot go without it because it WORKS; – We do this
    • have speed and quality in our development; – We do this
    • grow people to write better software. – This needs work. It is not done intentionally enough.

    These are:
    • Trust: We understand trust is to be there for each other, no matter what, so that we all fly higher safely. Consistency of mood cultivates trust. – I think that there are different kinds of trust. In some we do well, but others we need to work at…
    • Passion – Passion is not something that jumps to mind for me.
    • Team work – FinWorks has some very individualistic people. Not necessarily team players. This will need some work.
    • Delivery – Yes, we do this.
