Who dunnit differently
We recently got together as company to discuss different ideas to do business. Not the normal stuff. No, we went off the beaten track looking at companies like 37signals, Fog Creek, old faithful Google and some others that are breaking new gound. We looked at remuneration (NOT renumeration), office space, performance, productivity etc. We even went a bit esoteric in discussing flow… In the next few days I’ll be posting what we said on each category. We would love to hear what you think so go crazy on the comment button, OK?

But before I go…

What message are you sending out to your employees when you ask them to tell you Who dunnit differently? Is it an invitation to change, transformation, revolution…anarchy?! Have we started on a new road or is it still only words? How do words become commitment and commitment become action? And how do we sustain our enthusiasm in this process all the while navigating the waters of uncertainty to our New World – terra firma? Are we sure we even want to go there or are we still testing the waters…To quote Motormouth Maybelle from the movie Hairspray when she was giving advice to her black son dating a white girl in 1960’s America: “So this is love. Well, love is a gift – ‘lot of people don’t remember that. So you two better brace yourself for a whole lot of ugly coming at you from a never ending parade of stupid.” Yes, if we truly embark on this road we better doubly brace ourselves because sometimes it will be strangers feet in that parade and sometimes… it will be our own.

The fish philosophy had us all excited for a day, then came Monday…. That is not to say that we don't have fun. We need to make the changes that are right for Fin Works. If we keep the status quo, it should be a conscious decision.

    Otto Behrens

Famous quote there; of course, we've watched the movie 🙂 Yes, how do we get words into action. A once in a while thing helps, but does not do it. How? Perhaps, what do we change in our daily going about?
