IT Systems and Infrastructure Engineer

 

At FINWorks, we have spent 20 years building industrial-strength data and workflow system for the financial investment industry. Because we manage mission-critical financial data for unit trust companies, life companies and pension funds, our infrastructure isn’t just a “support function”—it is the foundation of our trust.

 

We are looking for an Infrastructure Specialist to work on the entire technical foundation of FINWorks. You will be the architect and guardian of our systems—ensuring our cloud presence is scalable, our networks are ironclad, and our developers have the automated pipelines they need to ship world-class financial software.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Cloud & Virtualization: Manage our server environments (Linux/Ubuntu), ensuring high availability and cost-optimization in the cloud.
  • DevOps & Automation: Own the CI/CD pipelines. Bridge the gap between code and production through automated testing and deployment.
  • Security & Compliance: Act as the primary defender of our financial data. Implement firewalls, VPNs, encryption, and lead our security auditing efforts.
  • Database Administration (DBA): Monitor and optimize our GemStone/S object databases and relational systems to ensure data integrity and performance.
  • Network & Connectivity: Manage internal and external networking, DNS, and secure remote access for our global “work from anywhere” team.
  • Internal IT Support: Provide high-level technical support for the team, ensuring our internal tools and hardware are running smoothly.

You will work with:

 

  • OS: Ubuntu / Linux (Expert level required)
  • DB: Object database (Will train) & SQL
  • Security: SSL/TLS, VPN, Firewall management, SOC 2
  • Cloud:  AWS, Azure and Dedicated Hosting
  • Networking: Routing, Switching, DNS, DHCP
  • Automation: Scripting in Python, bash
  • Tools: Git, Continuous integration (Jenkins), Nginx, Docker, Configuration management (Chef)

 

We have a strong focus on automation.

 

Experience:

 

  • Education: Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or 4 year equivalent qualification.
  • Experience: 5+ years in a multi-disciplinary IT role (SysAdmin/DevOps/NetAdmin).
  • Soft Skills: Must be a clear communicator who can explain technical infrastructure risks to non-technical stakeholders.
